Confederation of Humanitarian Nations (CNU)

Who We Are

The Confederation of Humanitarian Nations (CNU) is a Global Intergovernmental Organization (GIO) with humanitarian, social, cultural, and legal dimensions.
It acts as an international representative authority for the promotion of Human Rights, social justice, and cooperation among peoples, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948).

The CNU is organized in a confederal structure, uniting institutions, communities, and organizations that share the same commitment to protecting human dignity, the environment, and the right of peoples to self-determination and peace.

Mission

To promote peace, freedom, equality, and solidarity through concrete action:

  • Educational and training programs for Human Rights Defenders (HRD).

  • International campaigns against discrimination, poverty, and social exclusion.

  • Sustainable development, environmental protection, and cultural enhancement projects.

  • Direct humanitarian assistance in crisis and emergency contexts worldwide.

Founding Principles

The CNU operates in full conformity with the following international legal instruments:

  • Charter of the United Nations (1945).

  • Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948).

  • International Covenants on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) (1966).

  • Geneva Conventions (1949) and Additional Protocols (1977).

  • Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (2000), where applicable.

Confederative Structure

The Confederation is composed of central organs, colleges, and thematic commissions, which cooperate to implement its humanitarian mission.
Among the main bodies:

  • General Assembly – the sovereign deliberative body.

  • General Secretariat – the executive and coordinating organ.

  • Human Rights Court – the moral and legal body for protection and monitoring.

  • Commissions and Confederated Boards – technical-scientific and operational entities.

  • Humanitarian Consulates and Territorial Delegations – representative and cooperative structures within local jurisdictions.

Recognition and Cooperation

The CNU collaborates with public institutions, governments, intergovernmental organizations, and universities to develop programs in the following fields:

  • Education and culture.

  • Social and health development.

  • Environmental and scientific research.

  • Legal and diplomatic cooperation.

All activities are conducted in full compliance with national legislation and international standards on human rights and humanitarian cooperation.

Duration and Headquarters

The CNU has unlimited duration.
Its General Headquarters are located in Prato, Italy, serving as both the operational center and symbolic seat of the Confederation’s founding values.
The Confederation may establish Representative Offices and Humanitarian Consulates in other countries, in compliance with local legal frameworks.

Ethical Commitment

The CNU bases its activities on the Confederal Code of Ethics, which recognizes the human being as the highest value of the international community.
Every Confederated Member, volunteer, and representative is committed to the principles of integrity, transparency, solidarity, and responsibility.
