Official communications to be launched regarding the Environmental Sentinels programme

The Confederation of Humanitarian Nations (CNU) announces that official communications are about to be launched concerning the programme known as “Environmental Sentinels”, as outlined in its programmatic documents and operational cooperation frameworks.

The forthcoming institutional communications, addressed to the competent authorities and involved entities, are intended to formally present the project framework, its objectives, operational modalities, and clearly defined limits of action, ensuring correct understanding and appropriate institutional positioning of the initiative.

The Environmental Sentinels programme is conceived as an initiative of civic participation, environmental awareness, and civil observation, based on the responsible involvement of citizens and local communities. It is characterised by:

  • functions that are exclusively educational, informative, and related to reporting/notification;

  • the absence of any operational activities or actions that might replace or overlap with the competences of public authorities;

  • adherence to the principles of neutrality, legality, personal safety, and civic responsibility;

  • coordination with authorised structures and stakeholders, in accordance with defined protocols.

The official communications to be issued will specifically outline:

  • the role of the Sentinels as civic figures dedicated to observation and awareness-raising;

  • the reporting flow, from information gathering to transmission to the competent bodies;

  • the framework for institutional cooperation and coordination;

  • the measures adopted to ensure transparency, traceability, and protection of participants.

This initiative forms part of the broader commitment of the CNU to the promotion of environmental responsibility, risk prevention, and the strengthening of dialogue between communities, civil society, and institutions, in full compliance with applicable laws and with respect for state competences.

Further operational details will be provided through the dedicated institutional communications and accompanying documents предусмотрed by the project protocol.
