The Special Board for Emergency Operations and Human Protection is the body of the Confederation of Humanitarian Nations responsible for coordinating activities related to humanitarian emergency response and the protection of people in crisis situations.
The Board develops operational guidelines, intervention protocols and coordination tools designed to support the humanitarian missions of the Confederation and its member organizations, with particular attention to situations involving natural disasters, social crises, health emergencies and contexts where serious risks to the safety and dignity of civilian populations arise.
The work of the Board is inspired by the internationally recognized humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence, promoting initiatives of assistance, monitoring and support for vulnerable communities through the international network of volunteers and Human Rights Defenders of the Confederation.
Its main activities include:
-
planning and coordination of humanitarian emergency response operations;
-
organizational support for field missions and volunteer teams;
-
collection and distribution of essential goods intended for populations affected by crises or disasters;
-
development of cooperation networks with local entities, associations and partner organizations;
-
promotion of initiatives aimed at the protection of individuals and the monitoring of humanitarian conditions in affected territories.
The activities of the Special Board are carried out in full respect of the laws and regulations of the countries in which the Confederation operates, adopting an approach based on institutional cooperation and operational complementarity with public authorities, civil protection systems and organizations officially responsible for emergency management.
The Confederation therefore acts as a humanitarian support and voluntary coordination network, avoiding any overlap or institutional conflict with the responsibilities of national or local authorities.
Within the Special Board there is also a dedicated Office for Emergency Logistics, responsible for planning and managing vehicles, equipment and operational resources required for humanitarian interventions.
This office coordinates the organization of mobile units, the management of emergency supplies and the logistical support for field missions, ensuring the rapid and effective delivery of humanitarian assistance.
Through this operational structure, the Confederation of Humanitarian Nations aims to strengthen its capacity to respond to emergencies and to contribute to the protection of individuals and communities affected by crisis situations, in accordance with the principles of humanitarian action and international cooperation.
