It is evident that the protection and understanding of human rights are, essentially, primarily dependent upon national-level developments and mechanisms. Laws, policies, procedures, and mechanisms in place at the national level are the cornerstone for the enjoyment of human rights in every country. It is therefore essential that human rights be embedded within national constitutional and legal systems, that justice professionals be trained in international law and in the application of human rights standards, and that violations of human rights be duly condemned and sanctioned. National norms have a more direct impact, and national procedures are more accessible compared to those at regional and international levels.
For this reason, the CNU Prosecutor’s Offices have established, for those seeking to assert their rights and for the protection of populations, a team of 27 high-profile international legal experts specializing in International Law. In this way, the CNU is able to operate, in full compliance with the Hierarchy of Legal Sources, before any Court of Law at all levels, ensuring an appropriate adversarial process.
